Qualification Objective

The qualification is aimed those working in a customer, security or service user facing role who may need to recognise the contributing factors, signs and causes of conflict and how to deescalate conflict situations without physical intervention. The qualification supports a role in the workplace and is based on shared units and is recognised throughout a range of sectors as an ideal foundation qualification for managing conflict in the work environment.

This qualification is ideal for anyone working in a face-to-face basis with the public which can be in a retail, leisure or hospitality setting, within the emergency services and other health care settings or within a security role. Learners will understand how to minimise the risk of conflict occurring or where is has happened and techniques to reduce an individual’s aggressive response.

Course Entry Requirements

The qualification is aimed at those aged 16 years and over and must have sufficient command of the English language to understand and undertake the recommended assessment methods for this qualification.

The assessment method of a multiple choice question paper for this qualification should not unfairly disadvantage learners who would otherwise be able to demonstrate competence in line with the purpose of the qualification. Learners should contact BSC to discuss reasonable adjustment if they feel the assessment methods would disadvantage them.

MEDICAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

There are no pre-requisite medical qualifications required to attend this course.

COURSE CONTENT

The Level 2 Conflict Management course covers the following content:

  • How communication can be used to solve problems and reduce the likelihood of conflict
  • Factors that influence human responses in conflict situations
  • How to assess and reduce risks in conflict situations
  • How to communicate effectively and de-escalate conflict in emotive situations
  • Know good practice to follow after conflict situations
