Qualification Objective

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills required by those working in Close Protection (CP) and other security roles or high risk environments who are required to hold an advanced First Aid qualification. It ensures learners are able to provide suitable assistance for a range of medical conditions and trauma related injuries.

While the qualification has mainly been developed for Close Protection Operatives (CPOs) working in the UK and abroad, the knowledge and skills it develops are also ideal for Cabin Crew, Industrial First Aiders and those working in more remote areas.

Course Entry Requirements

This qualification is aimed at those over 18 and due to the language of the assessment it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessments and to undertake assessment methods. Candidates should also be physically capable of undertaking the more practical assessments in a range of environments.

Medical Qualification Requirement for SIA Frontline CP Licence

This course meets the medical qualification requirements for individuals seeking to attend the Level 3 Working as a Close Protection Operative course and subsequently apply for their SIA Frontline CP Licence.

COURSE CONTENT

The Level 3 First Person on Scene (International) Medical Course International course covers the following content:

  • The role and responsibilities of the First Person on Scene
  • The principles of scene management
  • Undertake basic casualty assessment and monitoring
  • Assess and manage a casualty who is unresponsive
  • Support a casualty with suitable airway management techniques
  • Perform basic life support procedures on a paediatric casualty
  • Recognise and manage a casualty with a minor injury
  • Manage a casualty who has a catastrophic bleed
  • How a blast or ballistic injury may affect a casualty
  • Recognise and manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Recognise and manage common trauma related injuries
  • Recognise and manage a casualty experiencing a common medical emergency
  • Recognise and manage a casualty experiencing an anaphylactic reaction
  • Recognise and manage a casualty affected by heat or cold
  • Provide First Aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning

 

In addition, BSC are able to offer other OFQUAL regulated medical course depending on client, organisation or group requirements and roles which can range from:

  • One-day to three-day First Aid at Work courses
  • One-day to three-day Paediatric First Aid courses
  • Three-day to four-day pre-hospital care courses
